I love studying history and hope to instill, at the very least, an appreciation for history in my students. I hope to be able to show them the importance of how this country was formed through the study of not only major historical events that we might all be somewhat familiar with (Civil War, American Revolution, Constitution), but also by studying the individual accounts of people living within those major events. I hope that by examining some of these individual experiences, students might begin to develop a new perspective of these events, and then translate that understanding into a new perspective on their own role within the world they live in today.
My background:
I am a graduate of UNC Charlotte's History program where I also received a minor in Secondary Education.
I spent 6 years serving in the U.S. Army, where I had the opportunity to go overseas and gain new perspectives on countries outside the U.S.
I am a practicing artist, working mainly in Oil and Acrylic paints.
I love to travel. I consider myself an outdoorsman, finding any opportunity I can to be outside and experience the world around me.
